At Lumina Eye Care, we are passionate about optometry, and it has been our aspiration to open a practice to serve the community and provide personal and quality eye care. We are excited to provide a patient-centered experience and comprehensive eye care that is tailored to your unique eyes. With our professional eye doctors, leading-edge technology, and eyewear selection, you can be assured your visual health needs are taken care of with the highest quality eye care.

Services we offer:

1. Comprehensive eye examination
A comprehensive eye examination plays an important role in maintaining healthy eyes for children and adults. Many people have a misconception that good vision equates to good eye health. However, many eye conditions do not have any obvious symptoms.

Our doctors will evaluate your visual quality during your eye examination, such as sharpness of vision and eye movements, prescription, and conduct an external and internal health examination. During your visual health examination, our doctors will screen for and manage, if needed, eye diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataract, diabetic retinopathy, etc. We have state-of-the-art technology to allow for a more detailed ocular health examination. Our doctors see patients of all ages.

2. Contact lens exam
Contact lenses are a good option for patients who are active, do not enjoy wearing glasses, or have occasional cosmetic uses. With the improving technology, contact lenses are much more comfortable and more breathable than in the past. It is important to get a proper contact lens fitting to determine if your eyes are compatible with the lenses. This is essential to ensure your eyes remain healthy with contact lens use. Our doctors would be more than happy to discuss with you various options.

3. Ocular emergencies
Our optometrists are qualified to evaluate and prescribe therapeutics. As trained specialists, we can treat ocular emergencies, such as infections and eye-related injuries, and can assess sudden vision loss, new onset of flashes and floaters, etc. We are also skilled in removing foreign bodies in the office, so you can avoid the long wait time at the local hospital’s emergency room. When necessary, we provide referrals to other specialists as well.

4. Post-operative management
We provide post-operative management for areas such as laser eye surgery and cataract surgery. Our doctors can perform pre and post-operative care for patients who wish to undergo laser eye surgery. In addition, our doctors provide referrals to ophthalmologists for eye surgery like cataracts. After cataract surgery, the implanted lens provides good distance vision without the need for glasses.

5. Myopia control
With the increase in digital use and rapid changes in myopia (nearsightedness) in children, we offer various myopia control options for our patients. Some of these options include orthokeratology, soft contact lenses (MiSight), and specialty glasses lenses (Miyosmart). Orthokeratology (Ortho-K or OK lens) is a corneal refractive therapy that can effectively slow down the progression of myopia in children or teenagers. It utilizes a highly gas-permeable hard contact lens to flatten the front surface of the cornea (the clear part of the eye), which is reversible. It is worn at night when sleeping, and during the day, the individual will be able to see clearly without glasses or contact lenses.

MiSight, a soft daily disposable contact lens by CooperVision, has been shown to reduce the rate of myopia progression by up to 59% in children. This lens works by providing a focused image on the central vision area and a peripheral image that is focused in front of the peripheral retina to signal the eye to not grow as much, hence slowing down the prescription change. Miyosmart is a non-invasive award-winning technology, D.I.M.S (defocus incorporated multiple segments), which is now available to help control myopia progression. With a proven two-year clinical trial, this technology has shown to slow myopia progression by 59%. The lens has multiple segments of honeycomb defocus areas to evenly distribute myopic defocus with eye movement. This can help effectively control myopia progression. The lens is made of polycarbonate material and is highly impact resistant.
