I started going to Lumina Eye Care in 2018 and introduced my partner in 2020. Even though we only saw Dr. Fung once every two years, she always remembered the small details about us, making every visit feel so welcoming and comfortable. Dr. Fung is such an amazing, funny, and warm person, and we’re truly sad we have to switch doctors as we moved out of the province. We would even consider going back to Toronto every two years just so we can keep her as our primary eye doctor! We highly recommend her to anyone looking for a new optometrist. Dr. Merene Wong has been my go-to optometrist for the past two years, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the level of care and expertise she provides. Her attention to detail is truly remarkable, and she takes the time to thoroughly assess my vision, ensuring that every aspect of my eye health is carefully examined. Dr. Wong’s professionalism shines through in every interaction. She explains everything clearly, making sure I understand my options and any recommendations she provides. What sets her apart even further is her caring and compassionate attitude. She genuinely listens to my concerns, making me feel valued as a patient rather than just another appointment on her schedule. Additionally, one of the staff members, Marco, was incredibly helpful and professional when assisting me in selecting the perfect pair of glasses frames. Their patience and expertise made the process seamless and enjoyable. Having an optometrist who is both highly skilled and deeply considerate makes a world of difference, and I’m grateful to have found that in Dr. Merene Wong. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for exceptional eye care!

The staff members, especially Marco was very welcoming and friendly. From the few minutes waiting at the reception, I could already tell that he was very professional and knowledgeable when answering patients’ phone calls. I got an eye exam from Dr. Merene Wong yesterday and it was the most thorough eye exam I have gotten. Dr. Wong stood out from the other optometrists I have seen with her competency, professionalism, as well as efficiency. Every procedure was well sign posted and well explained. As a future healthcare provider, not only did I receive a thorough eye examination, I definitely was able to learn from her in terms of her doctor-patient communication skills. Dr. Wong is for sure someone you can trust for any eye-related inquiries or regular checkups.

Dr Deng was attentive and friendly during my eye exam. She was very thorough with the examination and patiently answered all my questions. I would recommend Dr Deng for anyone looking for a kind and experienced optometrist!

Lumina is by far, THE very best in eye care! As soon as you walk into this prestigious business, you are immediately met with a warm greeting from the front desk professionals! They are not only sweet and kind, but they are also very patient, understanding, and honest. They will give you their expert and honest opinion on whether the glasses you try on suit you, and it doesn't matter how many you try on, they won't rush you in any way or try to just make a sale...it's like having a family member help you out with sincerity. Dr Merene Wong is who we see when we have an appointment, and I can tell you that with every visit, we have the pleasure of witnessing a very skilled, kind, empathetic, and caring professional who knows how to check your eyes with optimal expertise. If we had to book an appointment with any of the other Doctors there, I am sure we too would be met with the same exact expertise and skill. The overall experience we have with Lumina is a great time every time...we look forward to our appointments! If I had to sum up Lumina Eye Care with one word to explain this business overall, it would be the word.....class.

Probably the best experience I've dealt with so far, for my child when going in for medical appointments. Originally, I had called the office after scouring the internet in search for an eye clinic that was not only reputable, but good with young children - no answer for over 30 minutes. And upon receiving a callback from their office after I left a voice-mail, the receptionist certainly wasn't overly friendly. That's ok, as I was willing to still give this place a chance. When my daughter had an initial test done with a medical assistant, she was very polite and courteous. About 5 min later, we saw Dr. Yu. I'm very used to all types of doctors being horrendously late and nothing less than a 30 min wait, which tells me that their office and their service is poorly run and managed. Dr Yu's bedside manners was nothing short of exceptional. She was kind, informative, polite, patient and understanding. She also provided me with well detailed information while conducting her tests. We will definitely be coming back.

Had my first appointment with Dr. Deng and staff and cannot recommend them enough. They were very helpful and professional throughout my eye exam. They helped me sort out my insurance claim and pick out new glasses. Have recommended this place to others and will be back myself

They cancelled my appointment. To be more precise, they called 1 hour before my scheduled appointment to let me know they needed to cancel and then reschedule because their doctor was sick. I booked this 1 week in advance and booked time off work to make it. No apology was provided by their staff and the message was delivered very matter-of-factly: "Hi, um, we need to reschedule your appointment." Unprofessional delivery and no respect for their customer's time. I understand people get sick. But you are running a business and need to take responsibility for situations like this. Replacement doctors, offer an apology at least, offer to try fit into earliest available next option and offer a concession as an apology. Take accountability for the situation. Very disappointing experience and I would encourage all to seek business elsewhere. Update: Received a call back (same day as scheduled appointment, presumably after seeing this review). The doctor was very apologetic and professional, promising to address the situation with the staff member that called me initially. They also offered to schedule me in for today in the late afternoon. I appreciate them taking ownership and trying to resolve the situation appropriately.

I am always very skeptical when trying to purchase prescription glasses from a place I haven't been to before because I really need to take my time to find a suitable frame since only specific kinds suit my facial features. Well, I am very happy that I chose Lumina Eye Care to get my new glasses from. Every single person who works there is respectful, attentive, professional and supportive. The quality of my glasses and its lenses are superb. I even had to go back for minor adjustments and they were very helpful. Be coming here with my family for almost a decade now. Dr. Yu is attentive and straight forward. She understands my genetic history and keeps an eye out for certain issues as well.

Not only was she caring and professional, but she also recognized that we weren't fluent in English and took the time to communicate with us in Cantonese. Dr. Yu went above and beyond by providing valuable advice regarding my children's eye therapy options, taking into consideration the differences between Hong Kong and the current location.
