Eyecare Travel Checklist
Whether you’re going on a short vacation or a long-awaited trip, don’t forget to take care of your eyes. Just like the rest of your body, your eyes need regular care and attention to stay healthy. That’s why it’s important to have an eyecare travel checklist to ensure you’re taking care of your peepers while on the go.
As eyecare experts, we’ve created a handy eyecare travel checklist. Use this eyecare travel checklist to ensure you have everything you need for healthy and comfortable travel.
1. Protect your eyes from UV by wearing sunglasses
It’s super important to protect your eyes from UV while traveling. If you’re going to spend more time outdoors wearing sunglasses, investing in a good pair of polarized sunglasses is a must. Polarized sunglasses can reduce glare and reflections from water, snow, and roads, making your vision more comfortable. It is always exciting to have a new pair of sunglasses to travel with. Not only is it great for your eyes, but it can also add to your outfit!
2. Carry artificial tears
If you’re flying, you may experience dryness in your eyes due to the cool, dry air on the plane. This can be made worse if you can’t sleep on the plane or if you have jet lag. If you experience any irritation in your eyes while on your trip, artificial tears can help rinse out allergens or debris that may be causing the discomfort. It’s best to use preservative-free eye drops, as they’re healthier, and you can use them more frequently without any concerns.
3. Get an extra contact lenses and contact lens solution
If you wear contact lenses, bring an extra pair or two with you! It’s always better to be safe than sorry, and you don’t want to have to rely on picking some up the next day if something happens to your lenses. Also, don’t forget to bring a contact lens solution if you don’t wear dailies. Sleeping in your contacts can increase your risk of infection, so it’s best to avoid doing that if possible!
4. Keep prescription glasses handy
If you wear glasses, bring them with you in case you need them! If you can’t wear contacts every day, then at least you have a pair of glasses to wear. Also, bring your glasses onto the plane! Either wear them to fly or change out of your contacts after. You want to avoid napping or sleeping in contact, and also, the plane is so dry that your eyes will be more comfortable if you wear glasses.
5. Don’t forget about medication
Don’t forget to bring your eye medication when traveling! You may have trouble getting the prescription drops you need if you’re abroad, so it’s best to be prepared. If you usually have allergies, bring your allergy drops, too, in case you have reactions at your destination. It’s better to be prepared!
6. Carry lid wipes
Lid wipes are great for keeping your eyes clean and refreshed. They’re especially useful for preventing infections or clearing up discharge around the eyes.
Following these simple tips can help ensure that your eyes stay healthy and happy while traveling. So don’t forget to pack your eyecare essentials the next time you hit the road.
